'Dark Knight's' Christopher Nolan Responds to Movie Theater Shooting

Director Christopher Nolan released a statement on Friday in the aftermath of the tragic shooting at a “Dark Knight Rises” midnight showing in Aurora, CO.

Speaking on behalf of the cast and crew of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' I would like to express our profound sorrow at the senseless tragedy that has befallen the entire Aurora community,” he wrote. “I would not presume to know anything about the victims of the shooting, but that they were there last night to watch a movie. I believe movies are one of the great American art forms and the shared experience of watching a story unfold on screen is an important and joyful pastime.”

He added, “The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."

President Obama also addressed the massacre -- that left 12 dead and 59 injured -- again, this time in his Saturday morning radio address, referring to suspected gunman James Holmes’ rampage as “evil” and “senseless beyond reason.”

“Even as we come to learn how this happened and who’s responsible, we may never understand what leads anyone to terrorize their fellow human beings,” he said.

GOLDIE says she cared for Prezzo

I went into the house as Susan…I have two facets to myself, on the TV, I am the entertainer and in the BBA house, I was Susan that’s me’.

The last Nigerian to be evicted from the Big Brother Stargame show, Goldie disclosed that her relationship with fellow housemate, Prezzo was not a strategy, as many had thought.
She opened up her feeling at a press briefing held in her honour on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Protea Hotel, Ikeja, saying that the speculation about her character and activity in the house were far from the truth.
Contrary to what many have opined, Goldie insists she was herself from the beginning of the show till the day she was evicted.
‘Personally, I didn’t go there with any strategy, I went in there to be myself. I went into the house as Susan…I have two facets to myself, on the TV, I am the entertainer and in the BBA house, I was Susan that’s me’.
And as for her relationship with Prezzo, she said, ‘I am an extra emotional person and as for Prezzo, I came to care for him very much. What I saw was that he was a calm person and what I saw was a calm person and he appeared intelligent. You had the option of 50 cameras, I had only two eyes and two ears and I believed in what I saw’, she concluded.
When asked how she feels now that she has discovered the deceitful nature of Prezzo, Goldie responded, ‘when I heard everything he said, I was sad but I realise he went into the house to play a game…I have learnt and I am stronger for it’

keeping your dreadlocks looking cool

Dreadlocks which were seen by many to be a dirty, unkempt hairstyle have now gained popularity over the years. The increasing acceptance of the style today has revealed just how healthy, versatile and attractive it can be. It can be neat and attractive enough to assimilate into professional environment.

This hairstyle which traces its roots to the ancient African culture can be braided, curled, coloured, worn in an elegant chignon or pulled back into a classic ponytail. That's not all. It's become common practice for even men to sport the hairstyle.

Many reasons exist among various cultures for wearing locks. Locks can be said to be an expression of deep religious or spiritual convictions, a manifestation of ethnic pride, a political statement, or simply a fashion preference. Over the years people have come up with a number of ways to keep up with the hair trend.

For proper care, dreadlocked hair needs to be washed regularly just like un-dreaded hair. Avoid using excessive hair products.

Cover your dreadlocks every night before going to bed and wash and condition them regularly.

Roger Federer rewrites Wimbledon fabled history with chance to overtake Pete Sampras

For Andy Murray the infernal three-pronged defensive formation remains intact, still stopping him from joining the true legends of the All England Club. Even if you get past the dreaded centre backs of Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic there is still the sweeper to prevent you in the form of the astonishing Federer.

But does anyone doubt that Murray is also a magnificent player? In any other era he would surely have ended a drought of British male singles champions at Wimbledon that will shortly mark its 80th anniversary.

Those who do cannot have been paying much attention during this 4-6, 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 defeat, played half outside and half indoors, spanning four hours and taking three hours and 24 minutes of breathtaking action to complete.

Federer loves playing indoors and, for a brief while, you wondered if Perry was giving the celestial powers a nudge by getting the weather to behave better than expected, allowing two hours of play with the roof open.

Maybe he wanted his potential successor to enjoy the best environment in which to tackle the Swiss master, maybe he just did not want his view obscured from on high.

But the underlying comfort for the 30-year-old Federer was the essential truth that it is far easier to go from winning your 16th Grand Slam to your 17th than from zero to one. You could see it in their reactions at the end.

When Murray rifled his final forehand into the tramlines Federer only half fell to the floor, propping himself up on the side before reclining entirely on the turf.

There were no tears, no climb to the players’ box. With yet another Grand Slam title he has put himself further away from his nearest current challenger, Nadal, and silenced anyone who thought he was losing touch with the Spaniard and Djokovic.

For Murray it was pure devastation, another opportunity missed and the thought that he might end up like his coach Ivan Lendl, always chasing a Wimbledon title in vain. As it is, they already share the experience of having lost their first four major finals.

The eternal lesson here, if you are trying to pull off something as extraordinary as he is trying to do, is that these errors just cannot be afforded against all-time greats.

More is the shame because, in complete contrast to his previous three finals, the home player had started dynamically under the watchful gaze of the great and the good in the Royal Box and beyond, whose aggregate importance might have reduced the innards of many men to water.

Federer was the more nervous-looking, making mistakes and being broken early. He composed himself only when restoring parity in the fourth game

The turning point was pure Lendl and another sign that Murray was not intimidated. At 15-15 in the ninth game he almost beheaded his opponent by ‘drilling’ him at the net to win the point.

You just do not do these things to the Swiss and Federer’s sense of order was so shaken he won only one more point in the set.

In a monster sixth game of the third set, which lasted 19 minutes, he created six break points before slotting away a game-winning forehand. It was then that the technical linchpin of Murray’s progress - his serve - became less than steadfast, especially in the number of first deliveries he was getting in.

Having missed a tough backhand to go 2-0 up in the fourth, Federer delivered the killer blow with a glorious cross court backhand that saw him break for 4-2.

Not even the urgings of the Prime Minister, his deputy, or the Mayor of London could help the home man stop the victory march then.

All of those three play tennis, but it is a different sport to that practised by yesterday’s protaganists. Federer has shown himself to be on a different planet and it is one which, to Murray’s heart-bursting frustration, he cannot yet reach.

MTN Nigeria rolls out services with WACS

MTN Nigeria has started making use of the West African Cable System (WACS) cable by launching a range of services running on the high-capacity submarine cable. The services are managed by MTN Business and will provide high quality, low latency Internet access to wholesalers such as ISPs, Internet bandwidth resellers and carriers, as well as mobile users across the country.

“MTN has the unique advantage of a pre-existing extensive terrestrial Internet Protocol (IP) and broadband backbone infrastructure, enabling us to deliver high grade and highly available Internet capacity to anywhere and everywhere in Nigeria,” said Babatunde Osho, chief enterprise solutions officer for MTN.

Osho added that the making use of the WACS cable will allow Internet users and businesses to boost their current Internet connections, as many businesses require more bandwidth, compared to a couple of years ago.

The 17,200 km submarine cable system which MTN was said to have committed over $100m, takes its course from Europe through West Africa to South Africa.

It has 15 established terminal stations along its route, including Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, Republic of Congo and Namibia. Incidentally these are countries where MTN has roots

Globacom gives 110,000 Free-Toll Lines to Police

To help in fighting the new surge of insecurity in the country, Globacom Limited, one of the leading telecommunication providers in Nigeria, has rolled out 110,000 toll-free lines for the police communication nationwide.

Speaking on behalf of the telecommunication company at the recent launch in Abuja, Mr. Babatunde Amunikoro was optimistic that with the lines, it would be easier for the police to fight the new wave of crime in the country.

Amunikoro, as parts of the gains attributed to the lines, said it would bridge the gap between police personnel and their family, which he said they usually leave behind whenever they are on transfer of duty.

In his words; "The facility will allow members of the Force with the Close User Group, GUC, to communicate among them free of charge for as long as they desire with a monthly access fee of N600 while they pay very minimal charges of calls outside the CUG.

"COOPCOM has been painstakingly designed to also make life easier for families of policemen across the country. We have considered the rate at which officers behind at various commands. This scheme will certainly reduce the gap of communication while on such posting," he added.

To ensure quality of service on the network, the Globacom representative said the telecoms company has injected several soft and highly competitive conditions into the scheme to made it very user-friendly and cost- effective. He promised that as time goes on, the telecommunication lines would be increased to one million.

The Inspector General of Police (IG) Mohammed Abubakar, represented at the launch by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in charge of Works, Mr. Emmanuel Udeoji, said the project would have taken place even before the advent of this present police administration due to some hitches. He therefore charged the personnel to make judicious use of the gadget.
